Do you think all credit card statement should have to show a "last date to pay at a bank" date on it....

...ie: should it be up to the customer to have to work out..[-what with weekends complicating the maths etc]..the last day on which they can pay the bill, and therefor avoid incurring a late payment charge...

or should the bank statement clearly state what date that day falls on?

do you think that the only reason a credit card company would not include that information on the stements it sends out, would be that the c.c.c would be be expecting to reap a harvest of late payment charges from its customers, and to include the info would be to lose an opportunity to extract more cash from its cardholders?|||Every bill I've ever had always has a due date on it. If your's doesn't, its time to switch to a different card issuer.|||Credit card statements are like any other bill. They are generally due around the same date every month. Most people know, if paying by US mail, they'd better send it out ten days prior the due date to avoid it being late. No, I don't think CCC should put that on statements. Besides, if they did it would just be another reason for them to overcharge consumers.|||they do .... read them !!|||To answer your FIRST question. YES it is YOUR responsibility to do the figuring. Not the bank's. They only collect fees when NOT paid ON TIME.

To your SECOND question. NO. They are in business to lend money (credit) to you and I. They are not in the baby sitting business to hold our hand and do our thinking. That's OUR RESPONSIBILITY not THEIRS.

Finally if you and I are IRRESPONSIBLE and can not figure out a simple matter of "when to mail" or "when to pay" a debt then maybe we SHOULDN'T be using credit cards. Don't you think so? I do?

I am sure in the lengthy Terms and Conditions agreement which we AGREED to there is a clause that stipulates for YOU and I to allow so many business days for the amount to POST to your account. That is the same thing as what you're asking for, except, worded differently.|||On every credit card bill I've ever had, the due date has been the same as the last day on which I could pay the bill at the bank. This is assuming the bank is the one issuing the credit card, of course. If you have a Bank of America Visa and went into a branch to make a payment on the due date, you will not get a late fee.|||if you have a credit card you should know that it takes 5 working days from the day you pay your bill to the bank|||No, I think a "due date" is enough. Along with my credit card came a short note from the bank detailing two important dates, namely 1.) cut-off date / statement date and 2.) due date which was stated in number of days after cut-off. Normally, if it falls on a Sunday, the due date is automatically moved to the next business day.

With various payment facilities available, settling your bills shouldn't be a problem. I suggest you try online banking. Most banks over such payment facilities and you can probably schedule payments so you never have to be late.

If you don't wanna do it online because you don't trust the internet, contact your card company via it's call-in service. They should be abe to provide with a list of convenient ways to pay your bills.

Good Luck!|||No, the due date is clearly stated. If you're old enough to have a credit card, you're old enough to remember when the payment is due.
