What is the issue date on a lloyds bank debit card statement or any bank really?

is it the date the statement was sent in the post or what is it?|||More often the date fixed for the starting of the transactions is the issue date which is embossed in the card. You can see the expiry date also being embossed upon it. Sometimes the card does not work on the same date when you receive it from the bank because the next day only the cards get activated by the bank.
